Paulk age 88 of Willacoochee, GA passed away Saturday afternoon, September 24, 2005 at his home following an extended illness. A native of Willacoochee, GA, Mr. Paulk was born April 10, 1917 son of John M. and Ethel Bowles Paulk. He was a retired farmer and formerly served on the Atkinson County Board of Education. He was a member of Beulah United Methodist Church in Willacoochee, GA where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and a teacher. He was also a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. Mr. Paulk was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Paulk. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Emily Morton Paulk of Willacoochee, GA; 5 sons, Johnny Paulk and wife Marion of Visalia, CA, Dick Paulk and wife Barbara of Charlotte, NC, Bill Paulk and wife Kay of Willacoochee, GA, Jim Paulk and wife Tammy of Willacoochee, GA, and Robert Paulk of Moultrie, GA; 1 sister, Irene P. Williams of Tybee Island, GA, 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Paulk were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at Beulah United Methodist Church with Rev. Eddie Morrison and Rev. Julian Tucker officiating. Special Musical selections included "He Looked Beyond My Thoughts" rendered by Tammy Paulk with Beth Paulk accompanying at the piano, "How Great Thou Art" rendered by Margaret Grantham with Beth Paulk accompanying at the piano and "In The Garden" and "Blessed Be The Tie That Binds" rendered by the congregation with Beth Paulk accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was provided by Beth Paulk, pianist. The interment followed in Paulk Cemetery with the presentation of the flag to Mr. Paulk's widow, Emily Paulk by their granddaughter, U.S. Navy, Petty Officer Sara Paulk. Serving as active pallbearers were Benny Gaskins, Wilson Paulk, Jimmy Grantham, Gillis Carter, Herman Tucker, Danny Paulk, Phillip Paulk.
