Atkinson County Citizen - July 6, 2006
 Rev. Edgar Eugene "Sonny" Ross, age 72, of Douglas, GA passed away on Monday, 
June 26, 2006 in Candler Hospital at Savannah, GA.
 Rev. Ross, a native of Scott Co., Missouri was born November 14, 1933, son of 
the late John Buell & Juanita Brashear Rose Ross. His church membership was at 
the Stockbridge Church of God of Prophecy.
 A retired minister after 37 years, he was a Bishop in the Church of God of 
Prophecy & Pastored in several states, where he also served State Secretary of 
the Iowa, Missouri & Georgia Churches. He was a masonry contractor and a US 
Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
 Survivors include his wife, Wanda Faye Risenhoover Ross, Douglas, GA; 
daughters, Debra Faye (Richard) Bartlett, Stockbridge, GA and Sherry Elaine 
(Travis) Peavy, Douglas, GA; sons, Derek Eugene (Michele) Ross, Douglas, GA and 
Tracy Lee (Kendra) Ross, Acworth, GA; grandchildren, Joshua Ross, Jeremiah 
Bartlett, Zack Ross, Bethany Bartlett, Jordan Ross, Mathew Peavy, Kristian 
Peavy, Sophia Ross, Trey Ross, Tyler Ross & Dustin Ross, great grandchild, 
Madison Ross, as well as several nieces and nephews.
 Funeral services were held 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2006 in the Sanctuary 
at Waldroup Avenue in Douglas, GA with Rev. Travis Peavy, Rev. Richard 
Bartlett, Rev. Barry Peavy and Rev. H.E. Cardin officiating. Stacy & Jeremiah 
Bartlett sang "I Can't Even Walk," Soloist, Tracy Ross sang, "Beulah Land" & 
the congregation sang, "Amazing Grace" with Sam Jordan, organist. Burial 
followed in the Axson Cemetery in Atkinson County, GA.
 Active pallbearers were Jeremiah Bartlett, Mathew Peavy, Zack Ross, Tray Ross, 
Britt Peavy and Kerry Scarborough.
 Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
