He was born in Berrien County on April 1, 1930 to the late Paul Allen and Eula Lee Register Scarborough. He graduated from Hahira High School in 1947 and returned to Lowndes County after retiring from the Education profession in 1985. Mr. Scarborough was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Scarborough was a member of the NEA, GAE, American Legion and Calvary Baptist Church. He has taught Sunday school classes since the early 1960's. He has been an ordained Deacon since 1963. He has been active in the Retired Association of Educators having served as an officer in various capacities, including President, secretary, and treasurer of the Lions Club in Lakeland and Hazlehurst. Mr. Scarbrough is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Scarborough. Survivors include, daughter and son in law, Judy and Anthony McKinnon Pearson, GA, Sons and daughter in law, Chuck, Jr. and Anita Scarborough Atlanta, GA, Gary and Diane Scarborough Willacoochee, GA, Elbert A. Scarborough Byron, GA. Grandchildren, Brandy Cribb, Stanley Clements, Lauren McKinnon, Meagan McKinnon, Daniel Clements, Trent McKinnon, Garrett Scarborough, Charles Theo Scarborough, III (Trey), Sydney Scarborough, Laurene and Deke Dubberly, Great grandchildren, Keegan Meeks, Mallory Meeks, Eli Meeks, Bryce Clements; sisters, Angela Harrell, Sandersville, GA, Linda Folds, Valdosta, GA and Jan Danforth, Perry, GA. A number of nieces and nephews. also survive. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2009 in the Mt. Pleasant/Byrd Baptist Church in Denton, GA, Jeff Davis County, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Music Funeral Services of Valdosta is serving the Scarborough family.
