Atkinson County Citizen - February 9, 2006
Ms. Marian L. Smith, age 58 of Pearson, GA passed away Sunday evening, January 
29, 2006 at home following an extended illness.
 A native of Coffee County, Ms. Smith was born February 12, 1947, daughter of 
Thomas I and Jimmie Stanford Smith. She was a caregiver for many years until 
poor health forced her retirement and she was a member of The Goodwill Assembly 
of God Church in Pearson. Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her brother, Tim 
Smith.
 Survivors include 2 sons, Nathan Chaney and wife Sandy of Douglas and Jeffrey 
Chaney and wife Anita of Axson, GA, two daughters, Denise Kirby and husband 
Allen of Suwanee, GA and Melissa Anderson of Atlanta, GA and one sister, Mary 
Sizemore and husband Gene of Pearson, GA, 13 grandchildren, 4 great 
grandchildren, 2 nephews, Hank and Wade Sizemore and several Aunts and Uncles 
also survive.
 Memorial services for Ms. Smith were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 
2006 at Ozias Freewill Baptist Church in Pearson, GA with Rev. Larry Johnson  
and Rev Robert Spivey officiating. Special musical selections included, "I'll 
Fly Away," "Amazing Grace" rendered by the congregation under the direction of 
Greg Soles with Joyce Johnson accompanying at the piano and Christopher Davis 
accompanying on the guitar.
 Soft music for the prelude and postlude was provided by Joyce Johnson, pianist.
 Serving as honorary pallbearers were L. H. James, Quill James, Zeke Tanner, 
Stanley Mizell and Bill Biddy.
 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
