Mr. Smith was born December 5, 1934, to the late Hubert Milton Smith and the late Annie Lou Stephens Smith. Mr. Smith, a native of Hillsborough County, FL, was a farmer in the Pearson area. He had lived in Atkinson County for many years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Smith was also preceded in death by his wife, Lola Mae Crosby Smith, 4 brothers, Talmadge Smith, Billy Smith, Charles Smith, Jack Smith, and a step- son, Kenneth Jones. Mr. Smith Attended the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include, 2 daughters, Pam Tucker, and Pat Smith, both of Pearson, GA; Step-son, Dale Crosby of Austin, TX; sister, Ann Smith of Douglas, GA; grandchildren, Ashley Moore, Jessica Tucker, Jarrett Tucker, Kyle Moore and Justin Delk, all of Pearson, GA, 3 great grandchildren, McKinley Moore, Raelynn Moore, and Braylie Delk, all of Pearson, GA; several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives. Funeral services were held Sunday, February 23, 2014, at 4 p.m., at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Lonnie Spikes and Rev. Levi Jones officiating. The Interment followed in the Antioch Cemetery, with Rev. Buddy Mitchell conducting the graveside services. Active pallbearers were Talmadge Smith, Jr., Jarrett Tucker, Kyle Moore, Blake Crosby, Michael Moore, Steve Gordon. Members of the Tift Area Hospice Group served as Honorary Pallbearers. Special musical selections, “Knowing What I Know About Heaven,” “I Sure Miss You,” and I’ll See You Again,” were presented by cd music and “Go Rest High on That Mountain” was rendered by Lee Ann Hodge and Hope McMillan with GayAnn Hodge at the piano. Prelude and postlude soft hymns were rendered by the pianist, GayAnn Hodge. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
