A long time resident of Atkinson Co., Mrs. Spikes was born July 27, 1930 in Charlotte, NC, daughter of Jack and Mammie Howard Worsham. She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Pearson, GA. Mrs. Spikes was preceded in death by her husband Aaron Spikes. Survivors include, son, Aaron James Spikes, Jr. and wife Laura of Willacoochee, GA; 4 daughters, Nancy L. Briggs of New London, NC, Wanda Williams and husband Scottie of Pearson, GA, Karen Graham and husband Glenn of Douglas, GA, and Jennie Lou Spikes of Pearson, GA; 2 step daughters, Dorothy Silva of Tulare, CA and Marion Tanner and husband Zeke of Pearson, GA; sister, Nina Chandler of New London, NC; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Spikes were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2005 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Lonnie Spikes, Rev. Jimmy Spikes and Rev. Bobby Fields officiating. Special musical selections included "Precious Memories" rendered by the congregation with Margaret Williams accompanying at the piano, "Wish You Were Here" and "Go Rest High On That Mountain," rendered by soloist Bryan Suggs with taped accompaniment. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was provided by Margaret Williams. The interment followed in Sweetwater Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were Randy Nugent, Julian Haskins, Charlie Bray, Bill Cater, William King and Eugene Paulk. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
