He is a native of Atkinson County, but he has lived most of his life in Ware County. He was employed as a truck driver for Mullis Lodging Company. He attended Indian Mound Baptist Church and Mt. Green Church of God of Prophecy. He was an avid hunter and outdoor enthusiast. He is the son of the late Levi Spikes. He is also preceded in death by his son, Carlie Glen Spikes. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Bennett Spikes of Millwood; daughter, Kimmie Stafford husband Ashley of Enterprise, AL; daughter in law, Carmen Lott of Kingsland; a foster child, Sara Perez of Willacoochee; five grandchildren, Hunter and Erin Stafford both of Enterprise, AL, Shawn Glen Spikes and Zachary Wade Spikes both of Kingsland and Edward Jacob Miller of Kingsland; his mother, Vida Lee Vickers Spikes of Lakeland; five brothers, Wayne Spikes of Pearson, Lonnie Spikes of Pearson, Jimmy Spikes of Homerville, Gary Spikes of Homerville, Gary Spikes of Milan, Lee Spikes of Pearson; six sisters, Betty Watson of Lakeland, Linda Douglas of Broxton, Barbara Edge, Janice Douglas, Mary Taylor and Nine Murray all of Pearson; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral service was held Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at Mt. Green Church of God of Prophecy. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Music Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
