A native of Effingham County, GA, Mrs. Spikes was born May 24, 1935, daughter o of Manning and Emma Mapleson Roberts. She had made her home in Atkinson County f for most of her life and was a homemaker. Her church membership was at New B Bethel Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Allen Spikes, S Sr. Survivors include two sons, Harvey Allen Spikes, Jr. and wife Brenda of Pearson, GA and Michael Spikes and wife Wendy of Douglas, GA; two brothers, Baker Morrell of Augusta, GA and Robert Johnson of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren, Amber Spikes Burroto, Katie Spikes, Annslee Spikes and Heidi Spikes; two great-grandchildren, Levi Roy Williams and Raylynn Michele M Martinez, and her two special pet dogs, Teddy and Roscoe; several nieces and n nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Spikes were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at New Bethel Church with Rev. J.A. Anderson and Rev. Jimmy Futch officiating. Special musical selections were “Amazing Grace,” “I Am Blest,” and “Look What I Have Traded for a Mansion” rendered by the Musgrove Family with Bonnie Musgrove ac accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the prelude and the postlude was by Bo Bonnie Musgrove, pianist. The interment followed in the Antioch Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Ronnie E. White, Donnie White, Tommy Herrin, Luise De-Leon, Ray Douglas, Ray Moon. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
