Spivey, age 70, of Pearson, GA passed away on Monday, November 2 25, 2013, at her home following a brief illness. Born October 16, 1943, in Marietta, GA, Mrs. Spivey was the daughter of the late J.B. and Connie Mae Lawhon Dickerson. She had made her home in Douglas, GA for many years before moving to Pearson in 1996. She was a gifted pianist and organist and enjoyed filling in a church whenever needed. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to cook, sew, and care for her grandchildren, and was known throughout the community for visiting the sick and attending to those in need. She passionately supported St. Jude Children’s H Hospital and Operation Smile, along with numerous other charities focused on c caring for children. Her church membership was at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Wanda O’Neal Spivey. Survivors include her husband of fifty two years, Leon Spivey of Pearson, GA; two daughters, Tina Winsett and husband Pat of Maxeys, GA and Kathy Pridgen and husband Jeffrey of Broxton, GA; two sons, Michael Spivey of Pearson, GA and Scott Spivey and wife Susan of Fitzgerald, GA; ten grandchildren, Lance Winsett Winsett, Adrian Winsett, Nicole Spivey, Kaitlin Spivey, Walt Pridgen, Chas P Pridgen, Laura Ashlyn Pridgen, Len Spivey, Taylor Spivey, Caroline Spivey and s several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Spivey were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Chaney and Rev. William Pope officiating. Special musical selections “Gone Home” and “Not Afraid” were rendered by the Sweetwater Creek Singers. Soft music for the prelude and the postlude was played by Mrs. Spivey’s daughter-in-law, Susan Spivey. The interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery with “Precious Memories” sung at t the gravesite by those attending with Sweetwater Creek accompanying. Active pallbearers were Michael Spivey, Scott Spivey, Pat Winsett, Lance Winsett Winsett, Jeffrey Pridgen, Walt Pridgen. Honorary pallbearers were Louis Spivey, Harvey Spivey, and members of the Mt.
