Atkinson County Citizen - March 2004
 Mr. Hansel C. Spivey, 69, of Pearson died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at his 
residence following an extended illness.

 Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 25, at Ozias Freewill 
Baptist Church in Pearson with the Rev. Larry Johnson, the Rev. Donnie Sloan 
and the Rev. Leroy Spivey officiating. Following graveside services, the family 
will gather at the home of Bertha and Kevin Pierce in Doerun.

 Mr. Spivey was the son of Tillman Spivey and the late Linnie Mae Davis Spivey. 
He was a retired metal fabricator and of the Freewill Baptist faith. He was a 
veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany, Korea and Vietnam.

 Survivors include his wife, Lavada Sellers Spivey of Pearson; his son, H.C. 
Spivey, Jr. and wife Susan of Tifton; five daughter, Ruth Burch of Axson, 
Barbara Posey and husband Tommy of Coolidge, Bertha Pierce and husband Kevin of 
Dorun, Carol Tillery of Norman Park and Melissa McKinnon and husband Rusty of 
Douglas; his father, Tillman Spivey of Douglas; two sisters, Rosa Lee Hester 
and Hazel Whitley, both of Douglas; 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, 
and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

 Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
