Atkinson County Citizen - June 2004
Gloria Jean Starr "Glo", 66, passed away June 25, 2004, with her husband, 
James, at her side. Glo was born Dec. 11, 1937, in Pearson, GA to Luella 
Corbitt and Pearson Starling. She graduated from Atkinson County High School, 
Georgia, in 1955, and went on to attend South Georgia College. She was a member 
of the Daughters of the American Revolution in her youth. Glo married her 
husband at Naval Air Station, North Island, in 1960. She spent her adult life 
in California, as a wife and homemkaer. After raising her four children in San 
Jose, Calif., she moved to Henderson, in 2000. She loved the bright sunny Las 
Vegas valley, her new home and the people she met. She was a courageous lady 
that affected those around her with her caring, upbeat personality. Her 
extended illness and constant pain changed her body but not her spirit. Her 
loving husband, children and grandchildren were constantly seeking her council 
and support. Her memory will be with us forever and our love for her is 
boundless.

 She is survived by her husband, four children, James Roger, Gregory Preston, 
William Andrew and Laura Lea Gerard, all living in California; four 
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren living in California and Georgia; and 
brother, William Starling and his wife, Gretchen of Chestertown, MD. Her mother 
and father preceded her in death. Memorial services were held Wednesday, July 
14, in the chapel at St. Rose Hospital (Sienna). 

 Contributions to the Arthritis Foundation and/or Cancer Society would be 
welcome.
