Atkinson County Citizen - November 27, 2008
  Mr. William "Bill" Sutton, age 89 of Sunnyside Church Rod. in Pearson, GA 
passed away Saturday, November 15, 2008 from injuries resulting from a motor 
vehicle accident.
  A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Sutton was born April 13, 1919, son of 
Jordan Lafayette and Wilmat Summerlin Sutton. He was a retired farmer and had 
also worked as a Del Cook Lumber Co. area supervisor for 29 years. Mr. Sutton 
was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees in WWII. He was also a member of the 
Satilla Lodge #163, F&AM. Mr. Sutton was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie 
Lou Paulk Sutton.
  Survivors include; three sons, Ronald Sutton and wife Rhetta of Woodbine, GA, 
Jerry Sutton and wife Debbi of Douglas, GA and Jeff Sutton and wife Benita of 
Fernandina Beach, FL; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also 
survive.
  Funeral services for Mr. Sutton were held at 11 a.m. Thursday November 20, 
2008 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Pearson, PA with Bro. Tommy Deems 
officiating. Eulogies were given by Bronson Coffee and Mrs. Sutton's son, 
Ronald Sutton. Special musical selections included "Amazing Grace" rendered by 
the congregation with Lila Deemed at the piano. Soft music was provided by Lila 
Deems, pianist. The interment followed in Antioch Cemetery with Military honors 
and presentation of the flag by Mr. Sutton's grandson, Lieutenant Commander, 
Stacey Sutton. Masonic graveside rites were performed by members of Satilla 
Lodge #163, F&AM.
 Serving as active pallbearers were Bronson Coffee, Buck Newbern, Stuart Drury 
and grandsons, Stacey Sutton, Keith Sutton, Ryan Sutton.
 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
