A native of Coffee County, Mrs. Sutton was born March 30, 1918, daughter of Daniel W. and Minnie King Paul. She made her home in the Kirkland Community where she taught at the Kirkland Elementary School for many years, and later at the Pearson Elementary School. After retiring from the public school system she taught for a few years at Citizens Christian Academy in Douglas, GA. After retiring from teaching altogether she took up painting and became an became an accomplished artist. She also enjoyed being a homemaker and grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her church membership was at the Kirkland United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, William L. "Bill" Sutton of Kirkland, GA, tree sons, Ron Sutton and wife Rhetta of Woodbine, GA, Jerry Sutton and wife Debbi of Douglas, GA, Jeff Sutton and wife Benita of Fernandina Beach, FL: seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Sutton were held on Thursday, January 10, 2007, at 2 p.m., at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Tucker officiating. Her son Ron Sutton gave the Eulogy. Special musical selections included "Amazing Grace" rendered by great granddaughter Kier Scrivenor, with Debra Supps accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was provided by Debra Suggs, pianist. The interment followed in the Antioch Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were Bronson Coffee, Buck Newbern, grandson, Eric Sutton, Jeffery Sutton, Keith Sutton, Ryan Sutton.
