Atkinsopn County Citizen - January 31, 2013
 Mr. Taft, a native of Atkinson County, was a Electronic Technician with RCA. 
He was the son of the late Rev. Joe Taft and the late Rosetta Smith Taft. He 
was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Juanita Taft, his son, Bruce 
Taft, and a brother, Chester Royals. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the 
Korean Conflict.
 Mr. Taft was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.
 Survivors include, son, Brian Keith Taft of Tallahassee, FL; grandchild, Keith 
Taft of Tallahassee, FL; 6 sisters, Nancy Colleen Purvis of Nicholls, GA, 
Frances Carver of Hinesville, GA, Alma Anderson of Pearson, GA, Linda 
Burkhalter, Deborah Stevens and Sarah Adams, all of Douglas, GA; brother, Fred 
Taft of Pearson, GA; several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
 Funeral services were held Thursday morning, December 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at 
the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Fussell and Rev. Ed 
Gilliard officiating. 
 The interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
 Active pallbearers were Archie Taft, Alan Mizell, Casey Stevens, Justin 
Purvis, Abram Nolan, Joseph Taft, Donnie Purvis. Special Musical 
selections, “The Last Mile of the Way,” and “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be,” were
presented by the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Choir, with Betty Smith at the piano.
Prelude and postlude soft hymns were presented by the pianist, Betty Smith.

 Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
