A native of Catoosa Co., GA, Mrs. Tanner was born May 29, 1914, daughter of C. and Blanche Black Williams. She was a homemaker and a member of Kirkland United Methodist Church. Preceding her in death was her husband William L. "Dodger" Tanner. Survivors include 3 daughters, Maxine T. Hamilton and husband, Jack of Nashville, GA, Dodgerie T. Davis and husband, Buck of Patterson, GA, Patsy T. Carter of Willacoochee, GA; 1 sister, Louise Cantrell of Waycross, GA; 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Tanner were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004 at the Kirkland United Methodist Church with Rev. Rodney Carter and Rev. Eddie Morrison officiating. Special music included "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace" rendered by the attending congregation. Soft music for the prelude and the postlude was played by tape. The interment followed in the Willacoochee City Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were grandsons; Ricky Carter, Charlie Deen, Roy Deen and great-grandsons; Brandon Davis, Carroll Carter and Billy Deen.
