A native of Coffee County, Mr. Taylor was born December 14, 1942, son of George and Linnie Taylor. He was retired from Miliken Carpet in Nicholls, GA and had worked 14 years at Harvey's Supermarket in Pearson, GA. He attended Pearson Church of God of Prophecy. Survivors include wife, Annie Mae Cooper Taylor; daughter Brenda Carroll Taylor of Ruskin, FL; sons, George Taylor of Waycross, GA; Scott Taylor of Douglas, GA; step-daughters, Amanda Bullard of Axson, GA, Sherry Weathers of Huntsville, AL, Annie Moore of Axson, GA; step-sons, Troy Reliford of Pearson, GA, Billy Purvis of Pearson, GA; sister, Burtine Royals of Douglas, GA; several nieces, nephews and grandchildren also survive; along with 3 great- grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Taylor were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the Pearson Church of God of Prophecy in Pearson, GA with Rev. Hardy Crosby officiating. Special musical selections included, "Go Rest High on that Mountain," "Beulah Land," and "Daddy's Hands" rendered by the Courdle Family with guitar accompaniment. The interment followed in Sunnyside Cemetery with special song, "Amazing Grace" rendered by the Courdle Family with guitar accompaniment. Serving as active pallbearers were Lonnie Hutcheson, John Caldwell, Harold Taylor, Darrell Cooper, Timothy Hall, Jerry Cooper. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Harvey Lavon Browning, Joseph Rodney Deen, Jr., Christopher Tanner, Michael Scott, Jamie Cooper, Derrick Newcomb.
