Born November 4 1950 in Appling Co, GA, Mr. Tillman was the son of James Kendrick and Grace Eason Tillman. He had made his home in Willacoochee since 1966. He worked for CSX Railroad as an engineer for 30 years before retiring due to medical reasons. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and lover of dogs. He also enjoyed sports and helped coach the Tomboys Softball team of which his daughter was a member. He was an active member of the Willacoochee United Methodist Church and was a faithful attendee of the Sunday morning Men’s B Breakfast Prayer Group. Survivors include wife, Janice McKinnon Tillman of Willacoochee, GA; son, Britt Tillman and wife Jennifer of Willacoochee, GA; daughter, Edy Leverette and husband Britt of Willacoochee, GA; sisters, Wanda Stephens and husband Lynch of Brunswick, GA and Kay McCranie and husband Bill of Willacoochee, GA; brother, Ken Tillman of Alma, GA; mother-in-law, Laura McKinnon of W Willacoochee, GA; 4 grandchildren, Amber Leverette, Ty Leverette, Leah L Leverette, Jack Tillman; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Tillman were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Willacoochee United Methodist Church with Rev. Jan Conner and Rev. Tony McKinnon officiating. The Eulogy was given by George Relihan. Special musical selections were “Another’s Solder Going Home” rendered by soloist Kim McKinnon accompanied by tape and “Beulah Land” rendered by soloist Derrick Soles with Jessica Griffin accompanying at the piano. “Victory in Jesus” was sung by the c congregation as the family was leaving the church. Soft music for the prelude a and postlude was played by Marjorie McGovern, pianist. The interment followed in the McKinnon-Tillman family cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were nephews Ryan McCranie, Steve Stephens, Scott Stephens, Shandy Tillman, Matthew McKinnon, Tony McKinnon, Dennis Buie, R Roy McDowell, Blaine Tillman. Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Bray, Junior Cooper, Elmer Luke, Danny Hodges, Terry Tucker, Larry Russ, Matthew Russ, Todd Minchew, Henry Moore, F Freddie Wilkerson, Jim Mills, Joaquin Torres.
