Walker, age 88 of Pearson, GA passed away Friday morning, January 30, 2009 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, GA following an extended illnes. A native of Coffee County, Mrs. Walker was born June 28, 1920 daughter of Grover C. and Martha McKinnon Mancil. Before retiring Mrs. Walker had worked at Cady Bag and Streat Corporation. Mrs. Walker was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pearson, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. D.N. Walker. Survivors include, 1 son, Bill Walker and wife Ellen of Baker, FL, 3 daughters, Patsy Kirkland of Pearson, GA, Margie Mansour of Pearson, GA, Martha Baker and husband Dave of Destin, FL, 1 sister, Lizzie Watson of Pearson, GA, 2 aunts, Irene Burkett of Douglas, GA, Ada Walker of Waycross, GA, 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Walker were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Pearson, GA with Rev. Bob Pierce and Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. The eulogy was given by Mrs. Walker's son, Bill Walker. Special musical selections included, "In the Garden" rendered by Rebecca Matthews and John Land and "Beulah Land" rendered by soloist/pianist John Land and "I Stand Amazed in the Presence" by the congregation with Candace Brown at the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was provided by Candace Brown, organist. The interment followed in Antioch Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were, Clifford Taft, Mickey Mancil, Bruce Walker, William White, Wendell Troupe and Quillian Taft. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
