Walker, age 68 of Pearson, GA passed away Friday, February 21, 2014, at Mayo Health Clinic System in Waycross, GA following a short illness. A native of Homerville, GA, Mr. Walker was born, May 9, 1945, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney and Vertie Hendrix Walker. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who also loved horses and traveling. After retiring as a truck driver, Mr. Walker enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Jack, teaching him how to ride horses and fish. He attended Simple Church in Pearson, GA and was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors include daughter, Heidi Diaz and husband Bobby of Pearson, GA; grandson, Jackson “Jack” Knight of Pearson, GA; brother, Ronald Walker of Bushnell, FL; 6 sisters, Ann Douglas of Waycross, GA, Rhonda Henry of Homerville, GA, Roselyn Norman of Stockton, GA, Sue Johnson of Valdosta, GA, Jeanette Smith of Lake Panasoffkee, FL and Rita Tyson of Homerville, GA; several nieces and nephews also service. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Walker were held at 2 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2014, at Sweetwater Hill Cemetery on Frank Pelz Rd. in Pearson, GA with Rev. Don Harper and Paul Mizell officiating. Special musical selections included, “You Are, I Am” and “Take my Hand, Precious Lord” rendered by soloist and key- boardist, John Lang. The interment followed in Sweetwater Hill Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were Paul Mizell, James Gore, Jr., Locke Tanner, Glenn Walker, Cody Walker, Locky Joyner, D.J. Lee, Mike Paulk. Honorary Pallbearers were Bill “Bunk” Spivey and Ronald Walker. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
