She was the daughter of James Owen White and Lilla Corbitt White of Pearson. Miss White attended grade school and high school in Pearson before attending Tift College, Norman Junior College, and the University of Georgia where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. After her graduation; she taught school in the Atkinson County Schools and then for a short time in Manchester, GA before returning to Atkinson Co where she taught the remainder of her career in Pearson and Willacoochee. Most of this career was spent teaching the seventh grade, which was her favorite, with a few years of work at the high school level where she taught U.S. History and World History and served as a senior class sponsor and coordinated graduation exercises. Miss White made her home with her mother, Lilla C. White on King St. in Pearson until Mrs. White's death in 1975, she continued to live in the family home until her health required that she move to Summers Landing in 2003. Miss White was active in her community and the First Baptist Church in Pearson. She was a member of the Pearson Woman's Club, holding several offices and chairmanships. She was a member of the John Floyd Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution where she held numerous chairmanships and offices and attended many sessions of Continental Congress in Washington, S.C. with members of her family and other chapter members. She was a member and past President of the Retired Teachers Association of Atkinson County. Miss White was a charter member of Beta Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, which was organized in the area in 1962. She took great pride in being a member of this organization since it honored her as an educator and stressed the importance of dedicated teachers, who not only challenged students academically, but also presented appropriate role models of integrity, good values, kindness and love of family and country. Her quiet voice of authority and encouragement was heard in the classroom by the many thousands of students she taught during her career. When she announced her decision to retire after over forty years in the classroom, one of her fellow teachers said, "Miss Eva Delle you just can't retire and leave us." She responded that she had taught the parents, the children, the grandchildren and now the great grandchildren and it was time to go. Miss White was a loyal and active member of the First Baptist Church in Pearson for most of her life. She served as Sunday School teacher for the senior adults until declining health prevented her from continuing in this position a few years ago and was active in the Women's Missionary Union in which she conducted annual missionary study courses on foreign and home mission work. During her retirement, Miss White traveled extensively in the United States and abroad, When asked to name her favorite among the foreign countries she had visited, without hesitation she replied that it was the Greek Isles and hoped that she could return once more to experience their beauty. An avid fan of baseball, Miss White watch the Atlanta Braves faithfully, all of who she knew by name along with their positions, batting, and pitching statistics. Another great love was watching the University of Georgia Bulldogs. However, she is best remembered in the family and neighborhood for her love of reading.
