White age 92 of Pearson, GA passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013 a at Summers Landing Retirement Home in Douglas, GA following an extended illness. Born August 21, 1920 in Johnson County, GA, Mrs. White was the daughter of Otis Lee and Carrie Mae Hoover Kight. She made her home in Atkinson County for most of her adult life. She retired in 1978 from the Atkinson County Board of Education as a Teacher, Principal and Curriculum Director and was the first female public high school principal in Georgia. She was a member of the Georgia Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. Her church membership was at the First Baptist Church in Pearson, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Owen (Toots) White, Jr., a son James Owen (Jim) White III, and a sister Betty Kight Broom. Survivors include son, William White and wife, Angela of Pearson, GA; daughter, Lynn W. Inman of Jacksonville, FL.; daughter-in-law, Jenny White of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Carrie Inman, Will Inman, and James Inman of Jacksonville, FL., Owen White of Austin, TX., Clayton White and wife Jen of Charleston, SC., Jennifer Pace and husband Travis of Easley, SC., Perry White and wife Hayley of Baxley, GA.; brother, James O. Kight of Lake Placid, FL; sisters, Virginia K. Anderson of Hayesville, NC and Charlotte L. Lipham of Minneapolis, MN; brother-in-law, Ray Broom of Warner Robins, GA; Sister-in-law, E Eula W. Kirkland of Rome, GA. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. White were held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 at Sweetwater Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Worzella officiating. The Eu Eulogy was given by her son William White. The interment followed in Sweetwater Ce Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were Will Inman, James Inman, Perry White, C Clayton White, Travis Pace, Wade Brown. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
