Atkinson County Citizen - January 29, 2015
 Rev. Winston Wright, age 75, of Axson, GA passed away on Sunday, January 18, 
2015, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA following an extended illness.
 Mr. Wright was born on September 30, 1939, in Homerville, GA to the late Horace 
Wright and Huldia Morgan Wright.
 Mr. Wright has been preaching since 1973 and has been a pastor for over 40 
years.
 Survivors include wife, Mattie Lee “Mat” Wright of Axson, GA; son Kevin W. 
(Beth) Wright of Ambrose, GA; three daughters, Karen W. Spivey of Axson, GA, 
Angie W. (Chris) Portwood of Smyrna, GA, and Candace W. Ruis of Moultrie, GA; 
two sisters, Glaydeen Murray of Axson, GA and Carlene Spier of McDonough, GA; 
eight grandchildren, Morgan Spivey, Walton Spivey, Jonathan Wright, Jordan 
Wright, Caris Ruis, Cammi Ruis, Chace Ruis and Anslee Portwood; several nieces 
and nephews also survive.
 Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Holiness 
Baptist Campground with Rev. Joe Vaughn, Rev. Leroy Spivey, and Rev. Donnie 
Sloan officiating. Music was furnished for the service by Bonnie Musgrove, 
Brandon Musgrove, and Vanese Musgrove “Look What I Traded for a Mansion,” the 
Barnes Sisters “Two Coats,” and congregation “Oh I Want to see Him” and “He 
Saved my Soul” with Bonnie Musgrove playing the piano and Kay Wright playing the 
organ. 
 Interment followed at Jowers Cemetery. 
 Pallbeareres were Buddy Portwood, Mike Vining, Ronnie Purvis, Elden Gurley, 
Keith Wright, Steve Burke, Michael Spikes, William “Mann” Corbitt.
 Honorary pallbearers were Eustace Wright, Rev. Marshall Adcock, Sheriff Doyle 
Wooten, Jerry Pope, Rob Smith, David Moore, Herman Tucker, Dr. David Arnett, 
Steve Thompson, Members of Jowers Chapel Holiness Baptist Church, Danny Wright, 
John Mizel, Carroll Purvis, Wayne Sayer, Scott Day, Danny Cady, David Spivey, 
Darowyn Lee, Raymond Crosby, Holiness Baptist Association Members, Howard Holt, 
Raymond Musgrove, Willie Burch, Gene Waldron, Marty Griffis, Hiram Tanner, 
Lawton Cady, Vivian Young, pam Turk, Cindy Crenshaw, Larry Morris, Wayne 
McKinnon, Dan O’Steen, Thad Carter, Adair Tanner, Willie Wilson, Ricky Rozar, 
Kenny Vining, Jimmy Ricketson, Dereck Souls, Hugh Paulk, Mickey Spain, Robert 
Vining, Edgar Musgrove, Joel Spivey, James Wright, Wesley “PeeWee” Morgan, Paul 
Arnold, Howard Fulgum, J.W. Jowers, J.D. White, W. L. Coley, John Long, Joe 
Harrell, Bobby Mancil, Stan Rockett, and Curtis Newell.
