A native of Lexington, Neb., Mr. Zimmerman was born October 12, 1945 son of Be Bernard Eugene and Dolorse Mary Lemmer Zimmerman. He had made his home in At Atkinson County for most of his life. He was retired from the Hercules Company an and Design Space as a master mechanic and welder. He was a member of the Church of of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Pearson Ward where he served in the Pr Priesthood. He was also scoutmaster for many years of Troop 806 where many of hi his scouts went on to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a veteran of the U. U.S. Navy. Survivors include, son, Bernard Zimmerman of Axson, GA; daughters, Shelley R Rhodes and husband Paul of Waycross, Ga and Cristy Clement of Axson, GA; former w wife, Judy Royal Zimmerman of Waycross, GA; sister, Louann Walters of Ft. C Collins, CO; brothers, Raymond Zimmerman of Denver, CO, Ronald Zimmerman of L Lincoln, Neb, and Charles Zimmerman of Beatrice, Neb; 11 grandchildren, 1 great g grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Zimmerman were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pearson, GA with Bishop Kevin Merrell, Bishop Lamar Park and Bishop Steve Sirmans officiating. The Eulogy was given by Elder Dennis McDowell. Special music included “Sweet Hour of Prayer” and “I Need Thee Every Hour” rendered by the Men’s Choir accompanied by Ell by Ellen Hardee pianist. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was by Ellen Hardee Hardee pianist. The interment followed in Utah Cemetery in Axson, GA with Military Honors rende rendered by a U.S. Navy Honor Guard contingent from the U.S. Naval Station in Alban Albany, GA. The dedication of the grave was by Bishop Jamie James. Serving as active pallbearers were Preston Hardee, Chad Merrell, Tyler Merr Merrell, Noah Merrell, Shad Sirmans, Brigham Merrell, Ricky McDowell, Dale McDo McDowell. Honorary pallbearers were Scouts and former Scouts of Troup 806. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
