CURTIS NELMS (see his information on this same site) but facts seem to point that way. REV. CURTIS was born in 1795 and SHINES was born 1796-1797, both born in North Carolina, and both appeared in the adjoining areas of Baker, Mitchell, and Dougherty Counties about the same time, both having appeared in Baker County in 1830. Also, the 1820 Laurens County, Georgia census shows SINER (sp) NELMS as the head of the household since her husband, Jesse, had already died (refer to REV. CURTIS NELMS information). In SINER'S house- hold was one male aged 26-45 which would have been REV. CURTIS since he married one year later in 1821. There's another male shown aged 16-26 who could have been SHINES. There are three other males, 1 10-16, and 2 under 10. One of those would have been Edmund Nelms who is shown in court records to have a guardian. The other two males are unexplained, could have possibly died or married and moved away. Similarities of the two families: SHINES and REV. CURTIS each named a son JESSE, they both named a daughter, ELIZABETH, they both had connections of some sort in Worth County, Georgia, they both are shown on the 1830 Baker County, Georgia census. Perhaps might mean nothing but perhaps it does. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - References: Courthouse records of the counties named above; Census records of the counties and time period mentioned above; DESCENDANTS OF THOMAS A.
