He attended Philadelphia Medical College and started into practice in 1810. He was a Capt in a GA Vol. Co. in the War of 1812. He was in the State House of Representatives 1818-1826. He was elected to the 20th Congress US term 4 Mar. 1827 - 3 Mar. 1829 (I think these dated are correct) After his term of office he returned to Milledgeville to practice medicine. At that time he was, also, pres. of the State Bank of Ga. 1832. On 11 May 1859 he died and was bur. in the City Cem. His parents were: Arthur Fort b. 15 Jan. 1749/50 NC - md. Susan Tomlinson (b. 9 June 1755 NC and d. 13 Dec. 1820) in Twigg Co., GA. Tomlinson Fort married Martha Low Fannin (her mother was Elizabeth Low, sister of the John Low who md. Jane Wynne d/o Green Wynne and Hannah Tyus of Jones Co., GA) and Minerva D. Fort who md. Col. James Walker Fannin who died in the battle at Goliad during the TX Rev. 1836. He was the s/o Isham Fannin.
