Having resided in this city from childhood he knew no other home. He adopted the profession of his distinguished father, the late Dr. B.A. White. Graduating with distinction at Philadelphia he at once entered the U. States Navy as Assistant Surgeon, in which capacity her served during the Mexican war. At the close of that was, he resigned his commission and settled in the practice of his profession in his native town, where he married and lived uninterruptedly excepting a short time when he visited the schools and hospitals of Europe, to perfect himself in his profession; and his four years absence as Surgeon, in the Confederate Army. ...this community has lost one of its most benevolent, high toned, public spirited citizens, his profession one of it brightest ornaments, his family a kind and indulgent father, and the Church, one who, whether as member, deacon, or Ruling Elder (which last office he filled at the time of his death) will be sadly missed ...and that a copy be furnished to the family and another to the Southern Presbyterian for publication."
