L. BEESON In September, 1897, Dr. J. L. Beeson came to Milledgeville to take the Chair of Natural Science in the Georgia Normal and Industrial College, now the Georgia State College for Women. In "Who's Who in America," 1922-1923, his record is as follows: "Beeson, Jasper Luther, Chemist; b. Keener, Ala., Aug. 31, 1867; s. Capt. W. B. and Mary A. (Sibert) B.; A. B., U. of Ala., 1888, A. Sta. and prof, chemistry La. Sch. of Sugar, 1893-7; prof. nat. science, 1897-1911; prof. Chemistry and physics, 1911-14; prof, chemistry 1914 and chmn. faculty, Ga. Normal and Industrial Coll.
