About this same time Frances Worsham, a widow with her three sons, Joe Urbin and John, and two daughters, Caroline and Mary, came from Putnam County to settle in Milledgeville. Two years later, Nicholas Brooks and Mary Worsham were married. William Vinson Ellison came to Milledgeville from Cherokee county while a young man. This was about the year 1830. He married a Miss Hass, who lived only a few years, leaving three children. William Ellison, then married Theressa Boutwell, a daughter of Chappel Boutwell and Hannah Micklejohn Boutwell. Adolphus Leroy Ellison was a son of this second marriage and was married to Anna Brooks, a daughter of Nicholas Brooks and Mary Worsham Brooks, in the year 1870. Mr. Chappel Boutwell, the grandfather of Adolphus L. Ellison, was mayor of Milledgeville when General Sherman was camped in the city. It was through Mayor Chappel Boutwell’s efforts that the cotton factory was saved from destruction. He begged this boon from Sherman, in order to give work to the poor and thus save them from starvation. At that time the cotton mill was the chief source of revenue in Milledgeville.
