Died-On the 20th inst., at the residence of Walter H. Mitchell of this place, in
the 77th year of her age, Mrs. Margaret Alexander, relict of Abden Alexander,
formerly of Jasper county.  Few have better filled the place allotted to them
than the subject of this notice.  Of a numerous family she was the most feeble
and unhealthy; yet she survived them all, and was the last to submit to the
summons of death.  Long and sorely afflicted, her mind was ever bright, and her
heart ever open to the feelings of generosity and kindness.  The consolations of
religion were hers, and she died fully assured of a happy immortality.  Blessed
with the stay and support which filial affection does not always supply, her
declining years were happy: and although there was no hope of her again rising
to health and activity, death has seldom inflicted a blow which was more
painfully felt, or will be longer deplored.  The place of affection and kindness
which she filled is made void, and the community in which she lived mourn the
departure of a noble and generous spirit.  To her, death was a welcome
messenger; her departure was in peace.
