He was afflicted with a cancer on his face 25 years ago, and was confined to his house 18 months, and survived several months after being deprived of sight and nose, all the bones composing the upper jaw on one side of his face, up to the eyebrows. His nourishment for three months previous to his death, was composed of spirits, honey, and water. He was a soldier of the Revolution, and was in the Florida expedition of '78.
