JOHN WYATT HARPER
For Several years Johnnie Wyatt HARPER was my pupil. Perhaps I was his first 
teacher. He was a good boy, always obedient and kind to me and I  loved him 
very much. Since then with pleasant smile he has always greeted me. No  words 
can express my grief when I heard of his untimely death. He was the son of 
Benjamin I. and M. H. HARPER, was nearly sixteen years of age, was a maly 
youth, the pride of his father, the hope of his mother and the companion and 
comfort of  his sisters and his brother. No  one possessed brighter prospects 
for a long life and for usefulness. Looking the picture of health and seemed so 
bright and  cheerful as he passed out of the house and through the yard where 
his sister was watering her flowers, telling her to come go hunting with him, 
little thinking those were the  last words he would ever speak to her.  It was 
on the 20th of July when he  went into the  woods near his home hunting and was 
killed by the accidental discharge of his gun. No one was present to render 
aid, to tell the story, or  to hear his dying message to the bereaved ones. He 
was found soon afterwards dead. We may not be able to understand that 
Providence which takes from us our  loved ones in the bright spring time of 
life we can  only pray for grace to say, TheLord gave and theLord hath taken 
away, blessed be the nameof  the Lord." We would call back from the land of the 
blest, Our friends who froim trouble are taken to rest; For life with it's 
trials will quickly be o'er, And we shall meet on the heavenly shore.
