Macon Georgia Telegraph 6 Aug 1839

Died on Thurs 1st inst in this city, after an illness of 7 or 8 days John 
Williams Esq [.......] born 10 Apr 1782 Bertie Co NC from which state his 
father immigrated when his son was only an infant. Many years a citizen of 
Baldwin Co, which he Represented twice in the Senate, then placed at head of 
Treasury Dept. Left widow & numerous family of children & grandchildren
