Will of Martha Yates Babb 13 Jan 1864 Baldwin County, GA Will of Martha Babb 1864 Georgia, Baldwin County I, Martha Babb of said county and state, being of advanced age and knowing that I must shortly depart this life deem it right and proper both as it reflects on my family and myself that I should make a disposition of the property with which a kind providence has blessed me. I do therefore make this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all others. 1st Item. I desire and direct that my body be buried in a decent and Christian like manner suitable to my circumstances and conditions in life. 2nd Item. I desire and direct that all my first debts be paid by my Executor herein after appointed. 3rd Item. I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Martha Russell and then the heirs of her body all the lands of which I may be in possession of and the time of my death, it being the place where I now live adjoining Uriah King, E. Thrice and others which my deeds will more fully show. 4th Item. I also give and bequeath to my daughter Martha Russell all my household furniture and kitchen furniture except the one bed and two trunks that was Thomas Babb’s. I also bequeath her a cow and calf and Thomas Babb’s saddle. 5th Item. I give and bequeath to my beloved son Ransom S. Babb my horse and one bed and the two trunks that was Thomas Babb’s. 6th Item. I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Delia Bonner one large table. 7th Item. I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Sarah Brown one large trunk Also to the balance of my children Five dollars to each of them to let them know I have not forgotten them, as follows To Brinkley Babb, William Babb, Jesse Babb, Elizabeth Brown, to each of them Five dollars, also Delia Bonner Five dollars. I hereby constitute and appoint my friend Robert M.Gumm, Executor of this my last will & testament, this the 13th day of January 1864. Gumm and Littleberry Roberson two of the subscribing witnesses to said will who after being duly sworn, depose and say that they saw said Martha sign and publish the same as her at will and testament while of sound and disposing mind and memory on the day and year then and there stated and free from any under influence that they signed the same as witnesses by request of the Testatrix in here presence and in the presence of each other.
