Johnston surrendered over 29,000 men to General William Tecumseh Sherman. General Sherman agreed to provide transportation to those men needing it. The following men from Company H were present at the surrender; Richard V. Morris, David A. Bray,James L. Carson, Joseph W. Cartledge, John W. Chastain, James H. Glasure, James C. Goode, David Greenway, William Greenway, Isaac Hall, William McDonald, William T. Nunn, Fletcher A. Prickett, and Madison Warren Threlkeld. No men from Company D were present.
