Mr. Gabe Mize, of Banks county, was visiting relatives near Nicholson last 
week, and together with several others had been out hungint.  On their return 
to the house he was resting his gun on the floor near a crack, when it 
accidentally slipped, the breech of the gun going through, striking the hammer 
against the floor, discharging a heavy load of squirrel shot through his left 
hand, tearing it up and breaking the bones fearfully.  Dr. L G Hardman, 
assisted by Doctors N B Cash and R L Harris, amputated the hand just above the 
wrist joint.
