The Weekly Constitution, Atlanta, GA March 30, 1903
Gainesville, Ga., March 27.--On the plantation of ex-Sheriff Henderson, of 
Banks county, near Gillsville, yesterday, Mrs. Lula Wheeler accidentally shot 
and fatally wounded her sister in law, Miss Mamie Wheeler.  The women were 
playfully handling a revolver, which was supposed to be unloaded, when it was 
discharged, the ball taking effect in the body of the young lady.  Mrs. Wheeler 
is prostrated with grief over the accident, which will, in all probability, 
terminate in the death of Miss Wheeler.

Medical aid was summoned soon after the shot was fired, but it is not believed 
by the attending physician that the young lady can recover.  The Wheelers are 
well known in Banks and Hall counties, and the accident is greatly regretted by 
their friends.
