Robert I. Bennett, 19, of Gillsville, Route 1, will be honored at graveside services to be held Sunday afternoon at 4:30 at Gillsville Cemetery. Rev. Robert L. Carpenter will officiate and burial will follow. Pfc. Bennett died in action in Mindanao, Phillippine Islands, Mary 11, 1945. He was a native of Banks County, graduated from Gillsville High School in 1943 and entered the service in November of that year. He was with the 19th Infantry, and received his training at Camp Shelby, Miss., and Ft. Ord, Calif. He went overseas in September, 1944, and was first stationed in New Guinea. Surviving are his parents, Mr. & Mrs. G. M. Bennett of Gillsville; 3 brohers, Otho N., Edward, and Bill Bennett, all of Gillsville; 5 sisters, Mrs. J. W. Morris of Gillsville, Mrs. Lester Underwood, Mrs. Ralph Stewart, both of Chicopee, Mrs. Lester Clark of Maysville and Mrs. Hoyt Thomas of Atlanta.
