GEORGE COTTON

HOMER, Ga. - George William Cotton, 73, of Route 1, husband of Omie Baugh 
Cotton, died Tuesday at Athens General Hospital.

Born in Franklin County, he was a son of the late Robert Lee and Ada Segars 
Cotton.  He was a member of Grove Level Baptist Church and a Mason.

Surviving are wife of the home, daughters, Mrs. Gennett Buffington of 
Carnesville, Mrs. Avinell Carlan, Mrs. Frances Vaughn, Miss Mary Lou Cotton 
and Mrs. Catherine Shubert of Homer, Mrs. Shirley Blalock of Commerce, sons, 
W.J.Cotton of Cornelia, Julius Cotton of Dundee, Fla., Billie Joe Cotton of 
Homer; brothers, Herman Cotton of Gillville, Rudess Cotton of Cornelia; 
sister, Mrs. Mattie Partain of Carnesville, 31 grandchildren; 13 great-
grandchildren.

Services at 3 p.m. Thursday at Homer Baptist Church by the Revs. Mike Haynes 
and W.J.Reynolds.  Burial in Banks Memorial Gardens.

The body is at the home of Joe and Frances Vaughn, Homer, and will be placed 
in the church at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.  Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, in charge 
of arrangements.
