As he was walking along the highway with a friend, a truck steered by a careless driver and almost immediately brought an end a life so young, so full of promise for the future, that, as yet, it is hard to realize that it can be true. The news came as a great shock to the whole community and to a host of friends, both here and throughout the country wherever he was known. He was a friend to the friendless, and [sic] indulgent father, a good husband and a helpful neighbor. We shall miss him as we travel The way that leads to home, It's a hard way and a long way, The path that leads to home, but brother's gone ahead, And is calling us to come. For when the sun is setting, And the shawows [sic] growing long, We start facing homeward, Like the swan with its last song. Christ tell us not to worry, That peace is there and rest, He gives the best assurance, That the last homegoing's best. So when the day is ending And tired heart cease to roam, We will turn our faces westward, on the path that leads to home. A sister, Mrs. Ethel Wilson.
