Walker mott@cetlink.net July 25, 2005, 12:33 pm Anderson Independent-Mail, February 11, 1960 TOCCOA, Ga. - Mrs. Sallie Osborn Poole, 67, wife of Luther Poole of the Carnes Creek community, died late Wednesday morning in a local hospital after several years of declining health. She was born in Banks County, July 30, 1892, and lived there until she moved to Stephens County in 1922. She was a daughter of the late J.B. and Nancy Vaughn Osborn and was a member of Carnes Creek Baptist Church and also a member of the ladies' adult Sunday School class. Surviving in addition to her husband, are two sons, Swain Poole and Reeves Poole of Toccoa; four daughters, Mrs. Bill Meeks and Mrs. Bill Hallford, both of Toccoa; Mrs. Owen Goode of Barnwell, S.C., and Mrs. Haskell Whitt of Piedmont, S.C.; three brothers, Robert Osborn of Boswell, Burt Osborn of Piedmont, S.C., and Richard Osborn of Pelzer, S.C.; 11 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from Carnes Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. John Strickland, the Rev. John Moore and the Rev. Jack Ragan officiating. Burial will be in Union Hill Baptist cemetery. The family is at the home of Bill Hallford, 150 Sautee St., the body at Dan Mathews Mortuary. It will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Friday. Deacons of the church will be pallbearers. Honorary escort; members of the ladies adult Sunday School class.
