Mr. Segers was born in Hall County on June 7, 1930. He was a son of the late Clifton and Mary Pearl Higgins Segers, and was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Segers, a sister, Ovalene Holden, and a brother, Lewis Segers. Mr. Segers was a member of Duluth Masonic Lodge and a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. He was self-employed as a painter and was a former employee of Cornelia Mill and Feed for 14 years. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 2, at Mountain View Baptist Church with the Revs. Garry Garrison, Clyde Garrison and James Harvey officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Segers is survived by his wife, Addie Lene Brock Segers, Baldwin; daughter and son-in-law, Diane Smith Garrison and the Rev. Garry Garrison, Alto; daughter-in-law, Sharon Kimbrell Segers, Cornelia; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Ray and Deborah Segers, Cumming; son, Milton David Smith, Alto; sisters, Sylvia Sanders, Comer, Rachel Segers, Alpharetta, and Paulette Brown, Newborn; brothers, Wilkie Segers, Ellijay, and Charlie Segers, Baldwin; grandchildren, Shelly Segers, Cumming, Graham and Laurel Garrison, Buford, and Zackary and Barbara Smith and Amanda Garrison, all of Alto; and two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, was in charge of arrangements.
