Truly she merited the blessings promise the "pure in heart". All who knew her were impressed with her quiet unassuming Christianity, exemplified by her unyielding loyalty to God her Father and her dealings with mankind. She was peculiarly free from anything that savored of malice. She could not, nor did not entertain unkind thoughts of anyone. She was born Feb. 12, 1827, aged 72 years 11 months and 10 days. January 2, 1845 she was united in mariage to William Harvey Turk. Their happy union was blessed with eleven children, nine of whom are living. Their one purpose in life being to educate and bring their children to Christ. She united with the Presbyterian Church at Thyatira campground in Jackson County when about thirteen years old. Her membership was afterwards transferred to Homer where it remained, she seeming to have the Lord's special blessing on her household. Mrs. Turk leaves one brother Esq. William M. Ash and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas A. Neal of the county and Mrs. Mary Bush of Terry, Miss. Amid the sorrowing friends she was laid to rest in the cemetery at the Presbyterian Church by the side of her husband whose grave marked the first in this burying ground. Appropriate services were rendered by her pastor, the Rev. R. E. Telford, of Clarkesville. Loving friends covered the casket with beautiful flowers as a last token of love and respect. Oh but there were more such mothers in the land. God help us who now live, to live such godly lives before our children that they may be constrained to lead pure lives after us. The bereaved family and relatives have the profound sympathy of a multitude of friends. Banks County Journal Thursday February 8, 1900
