Sam W. Gilliland
Winder

Sam W. Gilliland, 80, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000.  A native of Barrow 
County, Mr. Gilliland was a son of the late Henry and Dora Etheridge 
Gilliland.  He was retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Master Sergeant 
and was a member of New Liberty United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at New Liberty United Methodist Church, with 
the Revs. Jaj Jones and Freddie O’Kelley officiating.  Burial will be in the 
church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Bell Wood Gilliland, Winder; five sisters, Ruby 
Sizemore, Marietta, Lois Wehunt, Maude Gilliland and Joyce Carter, all of 
Hoschton, and Betty Brady, Cornealia; three brothers, Quinton Gilliland, 
Hoschton, Charlie Gilliland, Talladega, Ala., and Roy Gilliland, Cleveland; 
nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to New Liberty United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 95, 
Braselton, GA 30517.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Carter Funeral 
Home.
