He was the son of the late Benjamin Thomas, a widely known Methodist minister during his lifetime. Mr Thomas became a member of the Methodist church while a small boy and lived a religious and useful life and was held in highest esteem of a wide acquaintance. He had been a member of Nazareth church for many years. He married Miss Helton, who, together with one sister, Mrs Jim Hughes , and the following children survive him: Mrs H.S.Rooks, Mrs A.L.Haynie, Miss Zelma Thomas, Miss Bessie Thomas, and Mr R Clint Thomas, of Barrow county; J L Thomas of Hall county, and Mrs Paul Hayes of Miami Fla, 21 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. The funeral occurred at Nazareth Wednesday morning, conducted by his pastor, Rev Matteson, assisted by Rev J H Wood. Interment in the Nazareth cemetery, in charge of F Q Sammon, a relative of the deceased. -------------------- Obit #2 Mr B T Thomas, a prominent planter residing near Winder died suddenly after Midnight Tuesday. He had worked in the field Monday. The deceased was 73 years old and a son of the late Rev Ben Thomas, one of the best known Baptist ministers in this section during his life time. He is survived by his wife and several children. She was a Miss Helton before marriage. Funeral services will be conducted from Nazareth church Thursday morning, with Rev S P Higgins in charge.(note: ministers and times differ on these 2 obits) -------------------- Card of Thanks We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to our many friends for their expressions of Love and sympathy and their deeds of kindness shown us during our bereavement in the sudden death of our dear husband and father.
