Dial, Benjamin F. 1880 - 1942 h/o Ida Holliday Additional Comments: This is a double grave, single stone, " private " cemetery. By private, I mean that it is on private land. However, it is not private by any means. This stone is positioned right next to the road. I took this picture, never really thinking it was marking graves, but maybe a stone that had replaced a new one and set in the yard as a conversation piece. On my way back from lunch one day, I stopped by the home of a resident on Dials Mill Rd. to ask her about this. She told me that this was indeed a " real gravesite " which was there when she and her husband moved into their home in 1942. Like a cat, my curiosity got the better of me. This cemetery is in a spot where it is hard to tell if it is in Barrow or Oconee County. So, in order to make sure I listed this correctly, I did a little digging around in the Census records and Georgia Deaths. Here are the few tidbits I found: Ida's DOD on the Georgia Death records is listed as 7 May 1941, and her middle name was given as Lee (1920 Barrow Co. Census). I could not find a record of death for Frank. Benjamin F. was Benjamin Frank, and went by Frank (1930 Barrow Co. Census). His occupation was Farmer (general farm). This was also true of the 1920 (Barrow Co.) and 1910 Census (Oconee Co). Residences and other tidbits listed on the three sets of Census records are: 1910 Oconee Co., Buncombe Dist. 240, Watkinsville - Bogart Road with immediate neighbors James Sosebee and Isaac Jackson. Frank and Ida had been married 7 years with one birth, none living. Rental Property 1920 Barrow Co., Statham Dist. 1742, Bankhead Hwy with immediate neighbors Harrison Moon and Zonnie De Lay. Rental Property 1930 Barrow Co., Statham Dist. 1742, Dirt road connecting two side roads. Immediate neighbors James Michael (side road 1) and John McCellan (dirt road). To the other side of these two neighbors were: the Dewy Dial family next to the Michael family and the Janie DeLay family next to McCellan family. Janie listed a household members Andrew and Victoria Dial listed as her brother and sister. This year, the property was listed as being owned. I hope these tidbits are helpful to someone. I realize this is more information than is normally included with tombstones submitted to the cemetery records to the GenWeb Project, but being one that will have no one left behind to remember me 60 plus years after my death, I wanted to put this out there as a way for these two people to be remembered, and to give a little bit of their lives to those reading this.
