Hollinshed appears in the Cartervill, Bartow, GA 1880 census with the following family. Wife, Sara A, age 42; Sons Lewis P, Mitchell V and John H.; daughters Sarah L (my grandmother), Martha J and Mary E. The wife of Preston was born Nov 29, 1837 and died Mar 12, 1914. Both are buried in Marietta Citizens Cemertary, Marietta GA. Preston was a member of th Georgia 22 Infantry, Company I, during the War Between the States. He appears in the CSA records as both P. V. and Burdine V. Hollenshead. He fought from enlistment August 19, 1862 to the surrender at Appromattox Va April 9, 1865. He was captured at Gettysburg PA on July 2, 1863 and exchanged on July 31, 1863. Little else is know about Preston and Sarah. The daughter, Saral L, married Melvin Mathis Lowery. The family history of the individual can be found at www.familysearch.com under the First and last name of Melvin Lowery. Melvin Lowery, it is believed, married Sarah L. Hollinshed in the Carterville and Bartow county Georgia area but no records have yet been found.
