CASS (now BARTOW) COUNTY MILITARY ROSTER 
Cass County was created 1832 from Cherokee County; a
part of Murrary County was added 1834. A part of Cass
county was set off to Gordon County in 1850. The name
of Cass County was changed to BARTOW COUNTY in 1861.
The county seat is Cartersville, Ga. 

The following is a list of the payroll of Capt. Berry W
Gideon's Company of Mounted Volunteers organized under
the act of the General Assembly of the State of
Georgia, assented to the 26 day of December 1837 for
the protection of the Cherokee and Creek Indians from
the 15th of Jan. 1838 to June 1838 and ordered into
service of the State by Colonel Samuel Stewart by order
of the Governor of the State of Georgia:
