The Cherokee Advance  23 July 1886 P 2 July 23, 1886
At Cartersville last Sunday Bryant Strickland was shot and killed while 
attempting to shoot Wm. Puckett, the town marshal, by either Wm. Puckett, Jim 
Puckett or Tobe Jackson.  Strickland was drinking.  The Pucketts and Jackson have 
been arrested and lodged in jail.
