Mark A. Cooper died at his home near Cartersville last Thursday, March 19th in the 85th year of his age. He was a man beloved by all, and who had done much for his neighbors, community and the country at large, and no man who ever lived did so much to develop the mineral resources of Cherokee as Major Cooper. He had held many places of honor and trust in this his native state, and filled them all efficiently and satisfactorily. His christian character and reputation was never tainted, even by suspicion. He ever contomsed (sic) everything mean and low, never stooped to a subterfuge in his life, and always moved on the plane of high and generous ___tives. The news of his death will recall historic memories to thousands of Georgians.
