Courthouse, Cartersville, Ga Written: October 1, 1859 State of Georgia, Cass County. In the name of God, Amen. I William Watts, of the State of Georgia in the County of Cass being mindful of my mortality, and of a sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament, in manner following. I hereby constitute and ordain Francis M. Watts and James S. Cunningham to be by Executors of this my last Will, directing them to pay all my just debts and Funeral Expenses. After paying all my just debts and funeral Expenses, or as soon thereafter, as will be deemed proper by them (my Executors) are directed to expose to sale my Household and Kitchen furniture of any Kind and description, and my land and town lots in the Villegeville of Adairsville - consisting of one field or parcel of ground - containing about fifteen acres more or less, known as the Watts field adjoining the said Villegeville of Adairsville and the town as above mentioned, to wit, the lot upon which I now live - the lot upon which Sam'l Gray lives. The lot upon where Samuel Floyd lives, and one unimproved lot adjoining Joseph Null and others. And the proceeds coming from the sale thereof to be equally divided among my nine living children and wife - Share and Share alike (biz.). My beloved wife Hannah Willis Watts and children (biz) Mary Ann C. Allen, Willis Caroline Cunningham, Willy Christian Watts, William Joseph Watts, Eliza T. N. Watts, Francis Marion Watts, Martha Ann E. Watts, George Washington Watts, and Virginia L. Watts. Secondly, I do further will and bequeath unto my beloved wife and children aforesaid, and do hereby make them equal distributees of my remaining portion of my personal Estate and other estates, so far as I have c… either by purchase inheritance and the like; at this time or any other - The aforesaid remaining portion consisting of about nine Hundred Dollars in cash on hand, and twenty two Hundred Dollars in solvent notes. And I hereby direct my Executors aforesaid, to pay to each and every one -… my wife and children aforesaid, their equal parts of the aforesaid sum of nine Hundred dollars, or whatever amount may come to their hands, and likewise to collect the notes aforesaid and distribute in the same way. And lastly with a heart full of love to my wife and children, not preferring one to another, but desiring to secure to each, whatever little I may give them, and that the same may not be squandered, I direct My Executors aforesaid shall give, from time to time, out of the portion that will be coming to my son (George Washington Watts) to him that amount and that only, yearly, not above fifty dollars for expenses … and prudently minded by him. And Should they my Executors, at any time deem it prudent from a change of life in my son George Washington, to give the whole or a quarter part and heretofore mentioned, they are hereby authorized and are at full liberty to do so.
